Grapes for
your Health
“And they found an
Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did
eat; and they made him drink water;12 And they gave him a piece
of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his
spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three
days and three nights.” – I Samuel 30:11 – 12
The argument for red wine is strong among some believers
largely because of the acclaimed health benefits. Red wines have been so
proclaimed as having healthy benefits because of its resveratrol content.
Resveratrol is a polyphenol that is very beneficial to the human heart as shown
by various studies.
A bottle of wine has about 12mg of resveratrol at most and
animal studies reveal that about 500mg of resveratrol is required for a daily
dose which will mean an average of 40 bottles of wine must be consumed to achieve
the healthy required dosage.
However, resveratrol are found in red and purple grapes.
They are anti-oxidants who handle free radicals and are able to help cell maintenance
as well as prevent diseases like cancers especially those of the lungs, colon, and
esophageal. Resveratrol taken moderately will help in your weight management as
they make fat cells disintegrate at a high rate.
Very common among the benefit of resveratrol is the benefit
to the human heart. It does help the dilation of blood vessel thereby helping
easy passage of blood. It lowers blood pressure by relaxing the walls of blood
vessels causing a mild extension in diameter.
One of its greatest benefits is its ability to handle inflammation.
It is also a brain-healthy food as it helps blood flow to the brain.
The story from the above scripture was that of a man who had
been sick for three days without food and left to die by his master. David
found him and needed him alive to help in restoring all the enemies had carted
away. Among the several things that was administered to the young man were
raisins. Raisins are dried grapes.
Many people are familiar with raisins in cake and bread but
do not know of their ability to boost energy. In place of glucose D given to
athletes, raisins come in handy for that instant energy. The nutrients in
raisins are concentrated because they are dehydrated grapes making them a rich
source of iron, potassium and B vitamins.
God has provided for all that we would need for life and
sound health.
