When
Healing Delays
“ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten
cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give
glory to God, save this stranger.” – Luke 17:17- 18
While working in a medical lab as an intern in preparation for
a post-graduate study in public health, a colleague mistakenly gave a patient a
test result belonging to someone else showing the individual tested positive
for HIV while the individual with HIV went home with a clean bill.
They both returned after a few days for further examination.
The fellow with the HIV positive result had emaciated with lean flesh and bones
while the actual person with HIV was still looking robust and showed no care.
This is the power of a proclamation though humans react more to negative proclamations
than positive ones.
Jesus had just pronounced the healing of ten lepers by
asking them to go show themselves to the priests. It was a form of passage, a
physical examination to certify the cleansing of the lepers and declare them
fit to be integrated into society.
It was obvious they believed the words of Jesus even before
receiving the required certification from the priests. As they departed, they
obviously started seeing signs in their bodies of disappearing symptoms. One of
the ten decided to return first to Jesus in thanksgiving before going for the
required check by the priests. Jesus said they were all healed the instant he
spoke the word but only one believed even before physical examination and
returned to give thanks.
Another man was asked by the prophet in Israel to bath seven
times in a river for his leprosy to be cleansed. He would have given up after a
couple of baths as he was not just required to dive in the water seven times
but was to have seven baths in the river.
His healing was perfected at the completion of the seventh bath.
Sometimes, healing manifests instantly as was the case with
the ten lepers while at other times, it could take a process many of which have
been described in this devotion. While going thru the process, consistency in
both action and confession is required.
Abraham did not consider the biological timing but he
believed the promise and started giving thanks to God (Romans 4:18 -20).
Obviously, his faith also encouraged him to keep having intercourse with his
wife believing conception will take place according to the promise made by God.
What actions are you taking today towards your healing? What
are your confessions about your conditions and what do they communicate to
every cell in your body. Studies have shown the correlation between these two
acts and healing in several situations where even terminal conditions have been
reversed.
When hope is against hope, just give thanks and experience
the drawing from the wellspring of life with joy unspeakable. Thank God like
Abraham and the leper who returned not having seen a complete change. Be
consistent in actions like the leper asked to bath seven times but did not give
up until his health was restored.
Don’t give up on your physical fitness goals or your diet
program because it seems the tummy fats are not giving way. Some couples try
IVF once and resign to fate, please go again and this time with thanksgiving
and believing like Abraham. Your healing took place 2000 years ago and was delivered
the instant you received the words of grace concerning your condition. Keep at
every positive action and confession to birth the manifestation.
