FAITH, HEALTH & HEALING DEVOTIONAL - DAY 6

Faith without Work

So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead)”  - James 2:17 (AMP)

A story once told of two friends who had gone to consult about their future. The first person was told he would be great and wealthy while the other was told life would be a misadventure for him as he would never amount to greatness.

They both went ahead with life but with a difference. The person who had been told would amount to nothing went into uninhabited regions and started cultivating the area, growing both food and cash crops. The other fellow went back home without no care believing he would be great. He went ahead announcing to all who cared to listen that his wealth and greatness were inevitable.

A great famine arose after many years and the whole city needed food. After the manner of Joseph, the man who had earlier been told would be poor was the only farmer who could help them , hence exchange began until the whole city had nothing to give in exchange for food. They all trooped out asking the farmer to be their king and lord over them just to feed them.

The first person to pay homage to the king was the fellow who had been told would be great and rich but did nothing about it. While the new king was the fellow who had been told would amount to nothing.

God has promised and assured us of health, wealth, prosperity, longevity and other great things in this life and the hereafter. Many are unaware of these promises while some who are aware do nothing to activate them.

You believe mere confessing the word and paying your tithes without putting your hand to work is not enough to ensure your prosperity.  You believe fasting and praying about your marriage is not enough to guarantee a good marriage. Yet you think mere confessing and not paying attention to principles of healthy living will guarantee health and longevity.

Every successful career is an evidence of hard work. No good marriage is a product of chance but conscious efforts by two individuals to make it work. In the same way, your health can not be left to chances. It requires attention and you must give it all it requires.

Knowing what to eat, how to eat, how to preserve what you eat, what cookware to use, etc. are some of the efforts required by everyone who desires health and longevity. Your body requires this input to sustain itself and to carry out its basic functions.

God has designed the human body to heal and reverse any disease condition with or without the aid of medication. Little wonder David said after taking a study on the dynamics of the human body “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”.

What you do and what you do not do would determine if your body will able to carry out the above.

According as His divine power as given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. Make a conscious effort today to work on your health so as to enact the promises of God concerning your health. It may be gradual and sometimes drastic if there are disease conditions already but you must start doing something today.

Confession:  Thank you Lord for your grace for health and healing. I apply this grace to aspects of my life that requires action to improve my health in Jesus name.

WHY CHRISTIANS FALL SICK

I must pay tribute and give dues to great Christians who have taken time to deal with the above topic. Some of them did after encounters with sicknesses and near-death experiences but the Lord had mercy on them and allowed them to put pen on paper for generations to come so we may understand God wants us whole and healthy. I will first acknowledge the works of Dr. George Makmus, founder of the Hallelujah Acres and the Hallelujah Diet who was diagnosed of colon cancer and went on to find out from the scriptures and science why “he” a Christian should get sick. He later wrote the book “Why Christians Get Sick” (It can be obtained from leading bookshops and online from Amazon.com). Secondly, I met Rev Tony Akinyemi over a decade ago and I believe strongly that my working with him is nothing but divine arrangement. He it was that first introduced my wife and I to the concept of healthy living. Rev Tony Akinyemi at the age of 36 with a budding ministry in the heart of Lagos was d...

PROTECT YOURSELF AND LOVED ONES FROM EBOLA

As Lagos records the first case of Ebola incidence, it has become pertinent to arouse public interest and educate people on the need for prevention as treatment and cure of the disease is not too clear to medical science as at 2014. The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) or Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever (EHF) first appeared during two 1976 outbreaks in Africa. Ebola gets its name from the Ebola River, which is near one of the villages in the Democratic Republic of Congo where the disease first appeared. Usually an outbreak starts when someone comes into contact with the body fluids or waste of infected animals, such as monkeys, chimps, or fruit bats. Once a person is infected, he or she can then spread it to others. There are five different types of Ebola virus that cause the disease. Four of them are known to cause the disease in humans. The American Centre for Disease Control states that “the prevention of Ebola HF presents many challenges. Because it is still unknown how exac...

FAITH, HEALTH & HEALING DEVOTIONAL - DAY 11

You Need Bacteria “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies….” – Psalm 23:5 David saw God preparing his table in the presence of his enemies. They have an important role to play in your lifting. Bacteria would be considered enemies of the human health but they serve several beneficial purposes to the body. There are about 100 Trillion bacteria in the human body while there are about 1 Quadrillion viruses (Bacteriophages) present in the human microbiome. The bacteria would outnumber the human cells by 10 to 1 while the viruses outnumber the bacteria by almost the same margin. Several researches have demonstrated the importance of bacteria to human health. There are several bacteria that promote infections and diseases in the human body but there are also several bacteria responsible for many critical functions in the human body. Bacteria are responsible for the breaking down of food particles in the body which when absent can lead to obesity...
