Why RAW
Food?
“ The angel of the LORD came back a second
time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too
much for you." – I
kings 19:7
The human body does not understand food in the way we view
food. For the human body, nutrients are like fuel required for powering the
body in order for it to carry out basic functions.
Such functions include but not restricted to i) Repair of
damaged cells or tissues ii) Prevention of diseases and infections iii) Growth
and general body development.
The body places demand asking for materials known as
nutrients for it to carry out the above functions and this demand is
interpreted as hunger. In most cases, the demand are inadequately supplied in
quantity or quality and sometimes completely ignored as we try to satisfy the
hunger quest.
A typical demand interpreted as hunger could be a demand for
carbohydrates as energy are required for some body building activities but when
the hunger demand is met, the body is supplied with protein and denatured
sugars which cannot be directly used by the body for the required function.
What the body does for survival in such state is to attempt
conversion of whatever is supplied to meet the required needs. This could be a
long process and can affect the health of the individual when repeated over a
long period of time.
This contributes to the disease initiating process in most
people. We may not be able to adequately interpret hunger demands hence we must
strive to ensure that our foods contain basic nutrients in necessary amounts
the body requires for its basic functions.
One way to achieve this is thru eating our food raw and as close
to nature as possible with little or no alteration. Most cooked meals are dead
on arrival as most nutrients contained in food are thermal-sensitive.
Also, most of our processing methods denature and depletes
our foods of necessary nutrients the body may require. The quality of Vitamin C
from a bottle of packaged orange juice will be lower when compared with juice
from a freshly plucked orange.
This is responsible for the longevity pattern as noticed in
older generations where fresh and natural foods are preferred.
We all have a great journey of destiny to fulfill. Our stay
in this physical body plays a key role in fulfilling this destiny. Our feeding
methods will determine how far we would go with this body.
Raw foods retain most of their nutrients as they have not
been damaged via cooking. Most times, we are unable to maximize the nourishment
essentials in our foods because of cooking and other preparatory methods
engaged.
Most minerals, vitamins and nutrients in our foods are
thermal-sensitive. They are destroyed when under high heat. Some of them are
denatured and can assume a potentially dangerous form for the body as is the
case in some oils when they are over heated can turn to trans-fat.
