FAITH, HEALTH & HEALING DEVOTIONAL – DAY 29

Why RAW Food?

The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you." – I kings 19:7

The human body does not understand food in the way we view food. For the human body, nutrients are like fuel required for powering the body in order for it to carry out basic functions.
Such functions include but not restricted to i) Repair of damaged cells or tissues ii) Prevention of diseases and infections iii) Growth and general body development.

The body places demand asking for materials known as nutrients for it to carry out the above functions and this demand is interpreted as hunger. In most cases, the demand are inadequately supplied in quantity or quality and sometimes completely ignored as we try to satisfy the hunger quest.

A typical demand interpreted as hunger could be a demand for carbohydrates as energy are required for some body building activities but when the hunger demand is met, the body is supplied with protein and denatured sugars which cannot be directly used by the body for the required function.

What the body does for survival in such state is to attempt conversion of whatever is supplied to meet the required needs. This could be a long process and can affect the health of the individual when repeated over a long period of time.

This contributes to the disease initiating process in most people. We may not be able to adequately interpret hunger demands hence we must strive to ensure that our foods contain basic nutrients in necessary amounts the body requires for its basic functions.

One way to achieve this is thru eating our food raw and as close to nature as possible with little or no alteration. Most cooked meals are dead on arrival as most nutrients contained in food are thermal-sensitive.

Also, most of our processing methods denature and depletes our foods of necessary nutrients the body may require. The quality of Vitamin C from a bottle of packaged orange juice will be lower when compared with juice from a freshly plucked orange.

This is responsible for the longevity pattern as noticed in older generations where fresh and natural foods are preferred.

We all have a great journey of destiny to fulfill. Our stay in this physical body plays a key role in fulfilling this destiny. Our feeding methods will determine how far we would go with this body.

Raw foods retain most of their nutrients as they have not been damaged via cooking. Most times, we are unable to maximize the nourishment essentials in our foods because of cooking and other preparatory methods engaged.

Most minerals, vitamins and nutrients in our foods are thermal-sensitive. They are destroyed when under high heat. Some of them are denatured and can assume a potentially dangerous form for the body as is the case in some oils when they are over heated can turn to trans-fat.

WHY CHRISTIANS FALL SICK

I must pay tribute and give dues to great Christians who have taken time to deal with the above topic. Some of them did after encounters with sicknesses and near-death experiences but the Lord had mercy on them and allowed them to put pen on paper for generations to come so we may understand God wants us whole and healthy. I will first acknowledge the works of Dr. George Makmus, founder of the Hallelujah Acres and the Hallelujah Diet who was diagnosed of colon cancer and went on to find out from the scriptures and science why “he” a Christian should get sick. He later wrote the book “Why Christians Get Sick” (It can be obtained from leading bookshops and online from Amazon.com). Secondly, I met Rev Tony Akinyemi over a decade ago and I believe strongly that my working with him is nothing but divine arrangement. He it was that first introduced my wife and I to the concept of healthy living. Rev Tony Akinyemi at the age of 36 with a budding ministry in the heart of Lagos was d...

PROTECT YOURSELF AND LOVED ONES FROM EBOLA

As Lagos records the first case of Ebola incidence, it has become pertinent to arouse public interest and educate people on the need for prevention as treatment and cure of the disease is not too clear to medical science as at 2014. The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) or Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever (EHF) first appeared during two 1976 outbreaks in Africa. Ebola gets its name from the Ebola River, which is near one of the villages in the Democratic Republic of Congo where the disease first appeared. Usually an outbreak starts when someone comes into contact with the body fluids or waste of infected animals, such as monkeys, chimps, or fruit bats. Once a person is infected, he or she can then spread it to others. There are five different types of Ebola virus that cause the disease. Four of them are known to cause the disease in humans. The American Centre for Disease Control states that “the prevention of Ebola HF presents many challenges. Because it is still unknown how exac...

FAITH, HEALTH & HEALING DEVOTIONAL - DAY 11

You Need Bacteria “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies….” – Psalm 23:5 David saw God preparing his table in the presence of his enemies. They have an important role to play in your lifting. Bacteria would be considered enemies of the human health but they serve several beneficial purposes to the body. There are about 100 Trillion bacteria in the human body while there are about 1 Quadrillion viruses (Bacteriophages) present in the human microbiome. The bacteria would outnumber the human cells by 10 to 1 while the viruses outnumber the bacteria by almost the same margin. Several researches have demonstrated the importance of bacteria to human health. There are several bacteria that promote infections and diseases in the human body but there are also several bacteria responsible for many critical functions in the human body. Bacteria are responsible for the breaking down of food particles in the body which when absent can lead to obesity...
