Faith, Health & Healing Devotional - Day 8

Diet for Peak Performance

“Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!”  - Ecclesiastes 10:16

Many eat like they are having a feast in the morning hours. This does not only affect their health but also affect their productivity. The scripture above says it is a curse to feed that way and expect to live long. The rulers would die at young age while lads would be forced to assume rulership.  Food is meant to preserve us and help live longer while at peak performance at what we do.

The human body carries out three specific functions on a daily basis to keep the body balanced for health and also peak performance. Each of these functions has an 8-hour window for their peak performance.

During the morning hours (4:00am – 12:00noon), the body’s peak activity is what is known as detoxification. During this period, the body is at its peak to get rid of metabolic wastes, end-products of other functions within the body from cell to cell.

Toxicity is a major cause of several disease conditions, a situation that arises when the toxic materials are retained within the cells, tissues, organs or systems of the human body.  This is the reason the need to empty the bowels comes in the morning as the body naturally tries to exit end-products of foods, metabolic wastes, etc. from the body.

This leads to the theory about how to eat during the detoxification window for the body to be at its best in removing wastes from the body. Some rules will help anyone who wants to live healthy or trying to recover from any disease process.

Firstly, it is important to note that raw foods should be taken rather than cooked meals. Raw food will include juices, smoothies, vegetables, salads, etc. Another good example of what to take will be whole wheat toast with peanut butter, home-made plant based milk taken with whole grain cereals, etc. Natural sweeteners like date, organic honey, raisins, and stevia can be used in place of refined sugar.

Raw foods help digestion while cooked meals exerts undue pressure on your digestive functions. Raw food will enable the body minimize distraction due to digestion and help the body focus on its core activity for the window which is detoxification.

Secondly, breakfast should be simple as this will not place additional task on the body while trying to clean up the wastes from the previous day. Polished foods, grains, cereals, processed foods, sugars, etc should be avoided while replacing them with examples stated above.

The sweat pores on the skin are also exit point for toxin removal and this can be aided thru physical exercise.  Aerobics during the morning hours is a plus at this stage. To have breakfast as recommended above requires a plan and the will to follow thru.

Always remember that where is chaos and disorderliness, it is a curse. We are no longer under such curses as blessed people of God. Our lives should reflect order and progress which are evident signs of the blessing of God over our lives.

Confession: I am blessed. My affairs are ordered and influenced by the blessings from the Lord.

WHY CHRISTIANS FALL SICK

I must pay tribute and give dues to great Christians who have taken time to deal with the above topic. Some of them did after encounters with sicknesses and near-death experiences but the Lord had mercy on them and allowed them to put pen on paper for generations to come so we may understand God wants us whole and healthy. I will first acknowledge the works of Dr. George Makmus, founder of the Hallelujah Acres and the Hallelujah Diet who was diagnosed of colon cancer and went on to find out from the scriptures and science why “he” a Christian should get sick. He later wrote the book “Why Christians Get Sick” (It can be obtained from leading bookshops and online from Amazon.com). Secondly, I met Rev Tony Akinyemi over a decade ago and I believe strongly that my working with him is nothing but divine arrangement. He it was that first introduced my wife and I to the concept of healthy living. Rev Tony Akinyemi at the age of 36 with a budding ministry in the heart of Lagos was d...

PROTECT YOURSELF AND LOVED ONES FROM EBOLA

As Lagos records the first case of Ebola incidence, it has become pertinent to arouse public interest and educate people on the need for prevention as treatment and cure of the disease is not too clear to medical science as at 2014. The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) or Ebola Haemorrhagic Fever (EHF) first appeared during two 1976 outbreaks in Africa. Ebola gets its name from the Ebola River, which is near one of the villages in the Democratic Republic of Congo where the disease first appeared. Usually an outbreak starts when someone comes into contact with the body fluids or waste of infected animals, such as monkeys, chimps, or fruit bats. Once a person is infected, he or she can then spread it to others. There are five different types of Ebola virus that cause the disease. Four of them are known to cause the disease in humans. The American Centre for Disease Control states that “the prevention of Ebola HF presents many challenges. Because it is still unknown how exac...

FAITH, HEALTH & HEALING DEVOTIONAL - DAY 11

You Need Bacteria “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies….” – Psalm 23:5 David saw God preparing his table in the presence of his enemies. They have an important role to play in your lifting. Bacteria would be considered enemies of the human health but they serve several beneficial purposes to the body. There are about 100 Trillion bacteria in the human body while there are about 1 Quadrillion viruses (Bacteriophages) present in the human microbiome. The bacteria would outnumber the human cells by 10 to 1 while the viruses outnumber the bacteria by almost the same margin. Several researches have demonstrated the importance of bacteria to human health. There are several bacteria that promote infections and diseases in the human body but there are also several bacteria responsible for many critical functions in the human body. Bacteria are responsible for the breaking down of food particles in the body which when absent can lead to obesity...
