“ Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers,
beware of the concision.” – Philippians 3:2
The human body is complex and highly sophisticated depicting
the wisdom of the Creator. The various cells in their trillions are carrying
out multiple functions simultaneously to keep the human body going. At the base
of these functions are nutrients which the body requires to power all its operations.
The ability of the human body to heal itself and prevent a
disease condition is also predicated upon how well the body has been supplied
with the required nutrients. Most of the nutritional factors are obtained from
food, atmosphere and water. Unfortunately, the environment has been under
serious threat of late owing to industrialization and other harmful practices
to the environment.
Depletion of the earth layers is not just an adverse effect
on the physical earth forms but also on the produce from the earth. This
affects the availability of some minerals and vitamins in the food we eat.
Plants do obtain these minerals from the soil and passed on to us when we
ingest the plants.
Cooking methods, processing and preservation methods are
also other ways by which our food substances are depleted in nutrients. Most
times, the food that lands on our tables are best described as junks. This and
other reasons have increased the advice for the intake of food supplements
especially for some nutrients the body cannot manufacture on its own.
With this understanding, it goes to show how important
supplements are if taken the right way. The danger is the false claims engaged
by marketers in selling the products. Please beware of any supplement or health
product marketed with some bogus expectations. In most cases, they are a way of
ripping you off your hard earned money.
When a product is marketed like a magic portion, it is an
indication that someone is about to fleece you depending on the price involved.
Don’t buy products marketed as a one-size-fits-all curing several health
conditions. Supplements are not meant to replace your healthy meals as have
been observed in some marketing campaigns.
Again, any health product marketed without paying attention to
lifestyle and dietary changes is most likely false. Holistic health practices
must involve lifestyle and dietary changes making you responsible for certain
actions necessary for optimized health. Ensure your supplements are organic.
Avoid quick-fixes. Products promoted to help with weight
management in a short period are false and if true will surely come with
adverse effects oftentimes fatal in nature. Your body has accumulated the
weight over a period of time, it will also require some time to shed them
naturally. Any attempt to fast track this will back fire.
The scripture above advises us all to beware of dogs and
evil doers. There are several health shops opened to take advantage of the sick
in unregulated environments.
